2006 JERSEY CITY SNAKES -- WE'RE MAKING HISSSSSSSTORY!!!
JERSEY CITY, NJ - The pop foul ball landed with a small thud in Staten Island catcher Billy Marcum's mitt.
And with that, the Jersey City Snakes tied their own pro baseball record for consecutive losses Sunday with a 13 - 1 pasting by the Baby Bombers.
Much of the blame for the loss will likely be pinned on Snakes owner and interim manager Gerard Gilmore. Gilmore, who has no bench experience, ordered his batters only to bunt for the first four innings.
"I thought it would catch [the Yankees] off guard," explained Gilmore. "You know, like, 'They can't be bunting again, can they?' It's psychology."
Speaking on condition of anonymity, second baseman "Piggy" Banks called Gilmore's move "ignorant and melon-headed." (FULL STORY)

JERSEY CITY, NJ - A sold-out crowd at Hertz Field Thurday evening stomped and chanted for Three Dog Night tribute band, Two Dog Night. But many who came out to hear the two-man band's rendition of "Shambala" and "Joy To The World" were sorely disappointed when guitarist Mel Fisch failed to show up, leaving Dennis Del Rio to perform solo.
"Who wants to hear Eli's Comin' on bass and drum machine?" complained Joel Botwinick. "He didn't even know the words!"
Del Rio apologized, "Mel always sings that. I could only remember the part that goes 'Eli's comin'' so I just kinda riffed on that."
Melanie Payne, who drove in from Trenton said, "When he played 'Mama Told Me Not To Come,' I thought, "Man, no kidding.'
Brady Cooper of Bayonne got in his shot, "I guess 'one' really is the loneliest number that you'll ever be. It's definitely the lamest."
Those who stayed to watch the game saw the Snakes lose 8-0, leaving them with a 0-27 mark and two losses from a dubious record.

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Jersey City Snakes' 12-1 victory over the Aberdeen IronBirds Tuesday night finally closed the book their 29-game losing streak. Tragically, it also closed the book on manager Gene Ryan's 77-year life. (FULL STORY)
JERSEY CITY, NJ - A bench-clearing brawl is not the most unusual or shameful occurrence in a professional baseball game. But when you're the hapless Jersey City Snakes, you find a way to make it one.
Mired in an epic 25-game losing streak, Jersey City's boys of slumber took on the Brooklyn Cyclones last night at Hertz Stadium. A faithful crowd of 417 cheered on the Snakes as they took a 4-4 tie into the ninth inning and it looked as if the drought might come to an end. (FULL STORY)
